In Africa, cities are created where the population can not live

Image
If you take a closer look at the evolution of the global population, it quickly becomes clear that not only are we becoming more and more people, but we are also increasingly attracting men and women to the big cities. Especially here in Germany, this is often seen as a problem, as more and more jobs disappear in the country and the supply there is increasingly worse.

The situation is similar in the countries of Africa with which I deal in our current article. In the past, we have already told you about new cities that are being built up within a few years. For example, the major project "Diamniadio" in Senegal , which will combine mobility and sustainability in the future. Money for such projects comes mainly from China .

The new cities bring many benefits to Africa. In addition to the economic growth that comes from the establishment of companies and the attracting of new investors, the quality of life for the inhabitants by a better supply will continue to rise. In this w…

Two faces: what you recognize falseness

Who does not know that: One person says one thing and does the other. This can be (rashly) described with unreliability or forgetfulness. But some people have two faces . They behave wantonly differently than previously announced. In the one minute you still think you have a friend in your colleague, in the next one he falls in the back. How to recognize that your opposite has two faces and what you can do ...

Two faces Meaning: What does that mean?
Two-faced character. Psychology have meaning. Men with two faces. Proverbs. Synonym JanusWhat is the meaning of the phrase "having two faces"? It sounds much like "having the second face" and could easily be confused.

However, this is not about clairvoyant abilities. Rather, it means that a person is different than she really is. There is talk of falsehood. Synonymous with two faces can be said: a person is ...

two-faced,
Janus-faced,
insincere.

Who has two faces, has different characteristics and behaviors . Now you could argue that every person behaves appropriately according to the situation. To behave according to the situation is also completely alright.

But whoever shows himself to one and the same person from two opposite sides and is totally friendly and in the next minute drops them like a hot potato has two faces.

Two faces: sayings and quotes
You do not see the true face of a human being at the first encounter, but at the last.
Life is like a masked ball - no one shows his true face.
A person with two faces will sooner or later be forgotten, which is his true.
The worst kind of falseness is pretended honesty.
In every person you know, there is a person you do not know.
Many people have two faces - not always is your heart right.
I have two faces - with which you make acquaintance lies can with you.
People will only show you their true face if they do not get what they want from you.
The reason why one sometimes confuses faces is that the real image is obscured by the mental image that springs from it. Charles Baudelaire
It's an old rule: a rude person can look modest if he wants, but not a modest one outrageous. Georg Christoph Lichtenberg
If I had two faces, would I wear this? Abraham Lincoln

Two-faced character: difficult personalities
The problem with a two-faced character is that you never know where you are . Many people rely on the first impression .

Personnel are also part of it: if an application, for example, is full of spelling mistakes, it will most likely not be followed by an invitation to the job interview. Even if the qualifications seem to fit on closer inspection .

Another stage of the first impression can be seen during the job interview: If the first impression is correct, an applicant usually receives the confirmation. A good knowledge of human nature is a prerequisite for the new employee to actually deliver what he promises.

It is not a guarantee though. People with two faces are often masters of adjustment : they know what is socially desirable and deliverable in each situation. As long as it helps them. At the moment when no immediate benefit is apparent, they drop their mask.

This is not surprising, because to maintain such a picture is tiring in the long run.

Can a person have two faces?
Some people may doubt: Can a human have two faces? Of course, this is literally nonsense. Also, some women's magazines (such as the Elle ) have agreed that some people are good for Frenemy depending on the sign of the zodiac .

That the star under which someone is born affects his character is also highly unlikely . But there is something about the Frenemies.

Frenemies - an idiom of English friends plus enemies , so friends and enemies - so in the Anglo-American area people are called, the front of you are very fat friends with you and immediately back talk about you blasphemy .

Just people with two faces. And they exist. Even with old friendships , this question must unfortunately be answered in the affirmative.

Not in vain is it said: Give power to a man and you recognize his true character. Those who have not yet had this experience need only to listen and learn again and again about stories of betrayal, loyalty breakage and fraud.

True friendship often shows itself only in need : When it comes to the fact that people help out of their own network and then suddenly all but a few are gone.

Such experiences are made, for example, by workers who become unemployed . Not infrequently, people then have to tighten their belts, especially when unemployment leads to ALG II.

Then often the true face of some "friends". A clear case of fair weather friends who have apparently played a wrong game so far.

Kuleshov effect: what we believe in faces to read
What can not be read in one face: lust and boredom, frustration and joy, defiance and grief. Often, however, we go one step further: we see a face - and interpret it: this guy is friendly, open-minded, intelligent , a good person.

Or: He is devious, left, wrong, a mischievous thing that you do not want to encounter in the dark. They think that this first impression is mostly true. You think wrong! In fact, it is the circumstances, the relationships, and even more the images and emotions that we have seen before that influence our interpretation.

Behind this is an old effect that film directors have been using for a long time. For example, the grandmaster Alfred Hitchcock in the movie " The Window to the Court " from 1954. There is a close-up of James Stewart. He looks out of the window and sees a puppy, which is carried in a basket down in the yard. Cut. Again close-up Stewart - he smiles. Cut. Now the viewer sees a naked girl across the window, turning and turning in front of the open window. Cut. It follows the same close-up of Stewart, the same smile. It is in fact a copy of the first picture. But now he looks like a lecher ...

The Soviet director and film theorist Lev Kuleshov first described this effect and gave it its name: the Kuleshov effect .

Because the brain tries to connect images (or settings that follow each other in the movie), even if they do not belong together, we do not interpret them neutrally.

Kuleshov's colleague, Ivan Mosschuchin, drove this montage art to extremes in a few experiments: the same, neutral face of an actor was repeatedly cut with other images - promptly the effect changed:

Face and a full soup plate: hungry .
Face and bright sun: happy .
Face and funeral: sad .
Psychological studies show that the same happens on the street or when we meet other people and judge them immediately.

This coincides with investigations reported on, among other things, the New Scientist . Within milliseconds we decide on tiny factors , how credible or trustworthy we find a stranger.

For this reason, scientists at Princeton University gradually changed the average faces ( morpheme term ) to examine their effect on observers. The effect was enormous, so the Boston Globe later wrote about it:

Researchers have discovered that surprisingly small factors - where we meet someone, whether their posture mimics ours, even the slope of their eyebrows or the thickness of their chin - can matter much more than what they say about themselves. We can not wait for a while, and we can not wait for a while.

Pokerface: Who we should trust (should)
Now there are situations in which the participants consciously make sure that people draw wrong conclusions from their faces - or none at all. For example, poker is one of them. The proverbial poker face has already brought some to his luck and money.

Pokerface - that's basically "having two faces" in English. Because the true I remains hidden. But what does the perfect poker face look like , which can also be cleverly used in negotiations ?

Harvard researcher Erik Schlicht investigated this by letting 14 and his team play 14 rounds of Texas Hold'em poker against more than 100 computer-generated opponents. In each round, players saw different faces of their Avatar opponents and then had to assess whether they were bluffing or not. Because they only played once against each of these artifacts, they could not base their decision on previous behavior, but had to draw their own conclusions from the facial expression .

The faces looked like this:

Pokerfaces - facial expression
As you can see for yourself, these faces differ according to the classic criteria of a trusted face (left), from neutral (center) to a sly face (right).

However, the scientists found that by no means was the neutral face (and certainly not the crafty one) the best poker face. It was the trusted face on the left, which each time made the poker players think longer about their poker strategy and with which they had the greater difficulty in making a right decision. Because actually they wanted to trust him blind - but of course knew that this is anything but smart in the game.

In everyday life, in the job or on the street, of course, that's different. There we do not play poker - and fall all the more on the nice, sympathetic and supposedly harmless face .

Please do not misunderstand: we can only look the other up to the forehead. Whether such a person is really up to good or bad , we generally know afterwards - or by careful caution.

The key is that we do not let a trustworthy face dazzle us and make us aware that our assessment is highly manipulatable.

Two faces: Janus is to blame
Where does the expression "have two faces" come from? Even the synonym "Janus-headed" does not open up to everyone immediately. Janus-headed, so like Janus having two heads, goes back to the Roman deity Janus .

By the way, the winter month January is named after him, he is also in pictorial representations of the seasons for the winter.

Janus is also the god of the beginning and of the end, but also of the doors and gates - his name goes back to the same origin as the Latin word for door ( ianua ) or for an unlocked passage ( ianus ).

Ultimately, Janus stands for duality in life with his two faces. There is always an antipole - up / down, left / right, life / death. This is interpreted quite neutrally, like two sides of a coin.

Janus-headed is not originally synonymous with "false", but above all means that a person is ambiguous or ambiguous .

Two faces: what reveals such behavior
Again and again we meet people who seem to have two faces. In the work environment, in private life - even in public life is heard. For example, the gossip press of jungle camp participant Tatjana Gsell reports that she has two faces.

The reason for this was her appearance in another reality show in which she first presented her calm, friendly and well-balanced side - but another time just the opposite : the same setting, the same participants, but a loud, drunken and unfriendly version of the same person ,

It is said that alcohol actually only makes the features stand out stronger, which are already created anyway. So, there is a strong case for people who are suddenly failing under the influence of alcohol to have just mastered themselves in the fasting state.

To constantly control oneself and suppress the true self costs strength and energy . What does that tell us about the person? Some considerations:

opportunism
The most obvious reason why people with two faces behave that way is that they are opportunistic. Always mindful of their own advantage, they pursue their goal until they have achieved it. The moment you do not help someone like that or the wrong person feels safe, the contact is broken off, and the person who really thinks about you is blabbed. In the rarest cases, something positive comes out of it. Sometimes people blaspheme in order to make themselves new "friends", because common enmity welds together. This behavior is clear parasitism.

personality disorder
Not infrequently a personality disorder hides behind this behavior. For example, psychopaths have absolutely no qualms about using other people for their own purposes. And they have two faces: on the one hand they can be charming, on the other hand they can liewithout blushing. Even narcissists belong to the group of those who show two faces: On the one hand they want to be admired by others and seek recognition. That is the reason why they constantly present themselves and take center stage. On the other hand, they try to gain the sense of importance by depreciating others and acting aggressively. Such a behavior is usually recognizable only after quite some time, when it becomes clear in closer relationships that the other person can not handle criticism at all.

cowardice
Behind such a behavior is quite a form of cowardice and comfort. With sincere effort, one could develop friendships and positions. And those who are at peace with themselves, have a healthy self-confidence , do not have to devalue others in order to feel better. Even if there is legitimate criticism of your behavior or that of other colleagues - anyone who is genuinely interested in friendship or good cooperation with you will have the courage to tell you directly what bothers them. Firing gossip at any rate has nothing to do with sincerity.

7 Indications of how you recognize people with two faces
Unfortunately, there is no recipe for dealing with such persons, at least not in advance. Because as stated above, often shows only in the test whether someone has two faces. Of course, a certain knowledge of humanity on your part is helpful.

Part of that is keeping the ball flat : just because a new colleague you do not know any more has greeted you kindly does not mean that you can not still experience your blue miracle. It's not about fundamentally distrusting everyone and everything.

But you should look at gestures , facial expressions and behaviors in the sum and not close from one single situation to all future ones. Of course, that applies in the negative as in the positive. As long as you do not know someone very well or long, a healthy self-protection is necessary.

Two faces Falsehood False friends
At work and in other relationships, that means not being exploited . Here are tips on how to avoid this:

At first, be reserved.
You would like to help your colleagues with one thing? No problem - unless you are constantly the one who helps and gets nothing back.

Watch the person.
This is not about stalking . Rather, a good memory: Compensate for past experiences with statements of the person. Did he implement what was promised? If not, that can be a sign of two faces.

Listen to.
When a person talks non-stop, it indicates a good deal of self-expression - maybe you have a narcissist in front of you. The danger of being exploited increases with it. Even though critical talks are impossible because your counterpart is over-sensitive, you have indications that the other is not really interested in you.
